Fraud Alert – Ferndown Area

We are aware of a recent report of courier fraud affecting a resident in the Ferndown area.

The victim received a text message claiming to be from their bank (Lloyd’s), warning of suspicious activity. They were then contacted by a fraudster posing as a bank representative and convinced they were assisting with an urgent investigation. As a result, the victim was coerced into handing over their bank cards and mobile phone to a courier.

❗ Please remember:

Your bank or the police will never ask you to hand over your bank cards, PIN, or personal devices.

They will never send a courier to collect your belongings.

Fraudsters can make calls and texts appear genuine—do not trust contact out of the blue.

🔐 How to protect yourself:

If you receive a suspicious call or message, stop and verify. Contact your bank directly using the number on the back of your card.

Do not share PINs, passwords, or one-time codes with anyone.

Be wary of pressure tactics—fraudsters often create urgency to stop you thinking clearly.

Talk to friends or family if something doesn’t feel right.
